Dyson Creative challenge winner 2025

Dyson’s Creative Challenge 2025 was a re brand of ACT Medical’s B.O.B (balloon occlusive barrier) for treating penetrative trauma such as stabbing wounds. REDcap. was my response in collaboration with graphic designer Amy Sproston to creating a ‘real world ready’ medical brand.

A brand identity that resembles the device itself in name and visuals. As has been done in the medical industry before, we wanted to create a brand that would supersede any classification that would be given to the device, as the EPIPEN has done.

The brief came with a request of two lines of communication for two target audiences of our choice with the requirement of a first responder as the primary audience.

Our primary voice of communication focuses on UK Police and their need for fast paced and easy treatment of penetrative trauma wounds as they are almost always the first to arrive on the scene, and have so many variables to balance when they arrive on the scene.

Our secondary audience was UK prison staff as there has been a decline in employment and an increase in resignations due to the decline in UK prison safety. Which is in part, due to increasing assaults including stabbings.

This line of communication uses a softer tone of voice to instil safety and calm in the user. Using testimonials instead of statistics alone in order to steer away from fear-mongering.
